Dr. Mestanas maintains life status membership in the Society of Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology divisions of the American Psychological Association. He is also a fellow of the Maryland Psychological Association, a past president of the Anne Arundel Psychological Association, and is listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He has developed and directed clinical program operations in mental health and addictions for inpatient, residential and outpatient settings, with clients from diverse populations, and has supervised doctoral interns from several American and European universities. He also pioneered in the field of partial hospitalization programs for individuals with mental illness and co-occurring disorders, and has been a consultant to youth and adult programs for quality assurance/performance improvement purposes. Currently in independent practice as a licensed psychologist/behavioral consultant in Annapolis, Maryland, Dr. Mestanas has been dedicated to developing a unified theory as it relates to stress, the immune system, psycho-immunology and any physical and psychological behavior or problem. He helps his clients toward behavioral change by developing effective strategies that reduce risk factors and initiate and maintain positive habits that promote life-long health and well being. Dr. Mestanas is the author of Passion For Health: A Natural Way to Wellness Through Nutrition, Behavior and Lifestyle. The book presents traditional and science-based approaches integrating knowledge and experience from naturopathy, psychology and the behavioral sciences.
